Vegetable cheese sandwich(Tawa sandwich)

Hi friends,
Hope you all had a great weekend, mine was hectic ….my daughter had two science projects. So I am always trying for quick recipes as I want to breathe in the hectic monday mornings (hubbys breakfast, lunch box preparation etc.)
So here I am with a great, simple and yummy recipe as I promised tadaaa—Vegetable cream cheese sandwich. Kids love sandwich and this one I am telling you …they will just hog it.
My hubby does not like sandwich (he is  fond of south indian breakfast idli dosa vada etc.) but even he liked this recipe. This is just like restaurant made sandwich. So go for it .
Ingredients
  • 6 sandwich bread, brown / white
  • 4 cheese slices (I used Amul)
  • Cheese spread ( I prefer the red chilly flavor) 1.5 Tbspn -Optional (Amul)
  • ¼ cup sweet corn, boiled
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup capsicum, finely chopped
  • ½ cup cucumber, chopped -Optional
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • ½ tsp mixed herbs ( basil, oregano) – Optional
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl put all vegetables of your choice like boiled sweet corn, carrot and capsicum.

  2. Also add cucumber. remember to squeeze off the juice off cucumber else the bread will turn soggy.

  3. You can add cheese spread 2 tbspn.

  4. Add pepper, mixed herbs and salt to taste.

  5. Give a good mix and check for seasoning.

  6. Apply butter on both side of bread slice.

  7. Spread a spoonful of stuffing over one slice of bread. Put 3/4 of 1 cheese slice preferbaly cut into smaller squares.

  8. Then, cover with the other slice of bread.

  9. Place it on tawa. You can use butter or oil for frying on tawa. (I prefer oil)

  10. Gently press and  cook till cheese is melted or on medium or low flame for 3 – 4 minutes.

  11. Finally serve cream cheese sandwich with some tomato Ketchup or sauce.

Tips

  1. I prefer brown bread but you could use any sandwich or milk bread too.

  2. I f you are calorie conscious skip cheese spread, but it makes the stuffing extra yummy and creamy so may be you could cheat once.

  3. You could skip cucumber if it does not suit your taste.

  4. For tawa frying I use oil but butter makes the recipe more yummy.

Go ahead and try this quick and yet yummy recipe which will be loved by adults and kids as well.The best part is it just took 20 minutes to chop and prepare stuffing . Let me know if you liked it … in the comments section.
