Anda Methi

Hi friends

I am back with yet another ravishing recipe. This again is a dish which involves the use of fresh methi leaves also called as ‘Menthikora’ in Telugu, ‘Venthiya Keera’ in Tamil, ‘Menthya Soppu’ in Malayalam, and ‘Methi Sag’ in Bengali. The aroma, the slight bitter taste of it is just so delightful when used in combination.

The leaves are used for treating poor liver functions and dyspepsia. It has  strong effect on blood lipid levels. Patients suffering from lipid fluctuations benefit hugely from this herb.

The best thing i like about this dish is you can serve it along with rice or roti.

4 boiled eggs, cut into halves

2 onions, chopped

1 tsp ginger-garlic-green chilli paste

1 tomato, chopped

1/4 cup fresh methi leaves, soak in salted water for 10 mts, squeeze

pinch of cumin pwd

2 tsps coriander pwd

3/4 tsp red chilli pwd

pinch of garam masala pwd (cloves, cinnamon, elaichi)

salt to taste

2 tbsps oil

1 Heat half a tbsp of oil in a heavy bottomed vessel, add onions and saute till transparent. Add ginger-garlic-chilli paste and saute for 3 mts. Add methi leaves and saute for 4 mts. Add turmeric pwd, red chilli pwdr, cumin pwd, coriander pwdr and combine.
2 Add chopped tomatoes and saute further for another 4 mts. Add a little less than a cup of water and salt and bring to boil.
3 Add the boiled egg halves and let it cook in this masala for 7-8 mts on medium flame. Reduce flame and cook till you get the desired curry consistency.
4 Add garam masala pwd and combine. Turn off heat and serve hot with rotis or rice.

  1. If you like the bitter taste you could add the methi leaves directly with without soaking them in salt.
  2. Also ensure you are adding the same quantity of water as mentioned in the recipe as this decides the consistency of the curry.

Hope you all liked this recipe.. Will be back with something sweet and delicious..

Vegetable cheese sandwich(Tawa sandwich)

Sandwich, Bread, Food, Tomato, Fresh
Hi friends,
Hope you all had a great weekend, mine was hectic ….my daughter had two science projects. So I am always trying for quick recipes as I want to breathe in the hectic monday mornings (hubbys breakfast, lunch box preparation etc.)
So here I am with a great, simple and yummy recipe as I promised tadaaa—Vegetable cream cheese sandwich. Kids love sandwich and this one I am telling you …they will just hog it.
My hubby does not like sandwich (he is  fond of south indian breakfast idli dosa vada etc.) but even he liked this recipe. This is just like restaurant made sandwich. So go for it .
  • 6 sandwich bread, brown / white
  • 4 cheese slices (I used Amul)
  • Cheese spread ( I prefer the red chilly flavor) 1.5 Tbspn -Optional (Amul)
  • ¼ cup sweet corn, boiled
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup capsicum, finely chopped
  • ½ cup cucumber, chopped -Optional
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • ½ tsp mixed herbs ( basil, oregano) – Optional
  • salt to taste

Abstract, Angel, Bass, Bread, Bun, Cod, Color, Diet

  1. In a large mixing bowl put all vegetables of your choice like boiled sweet corn, carrot and capsicum.

  2. Also add cucumber. remember to squeeze off the juice off cucumber else the bread will turn soggy.

  3. You can add cheese spread 2 tbspn.

  4. Add pepper, mixed herbs and salt to taste.

  5. Give a good mix and check for seasoning.

  6. Apply butter on both side of bread slice.

  7. Spread a spoonful of stuffing over one slice of bread. Put 3/4 of 1 cheese slice preferbaly cut into smaller squares.

  8. Then, cover with the other slice of bread.

  9. Place it on tawa. You can use butter or oil for frying on tawa. (I prefer oil)

  10. Gently press and  cook till cheese is melted or on medium or low flame for 3 – 4 minutes.

  11. Finally serve cream cheese sandwich with some tomato Ketchup or sauce.

  1. I prefer brown bread but you could use any sandwich or milk bread too.

  2. I f you are calorie conscious skip cheese spread, but it makes the stuffing extra yummy and creamy so may be you could cheat once.

  3. You could skip cucumber if it does not suit your taste.

  4. For tawa frying I use oil but butter makes the recipe more yummy.

Go ahead and try this quick and yet yummy recipe which will be loved by adults and kids as well. The best part is it just took 20 minutes to chop and prepare stuffing . Let me know if you liked it … in the comments section.

Carrot green peas paratha

Hi friends was on a long vacation but am glad to be back…. and blogging.

My daughter inspite of being a south indian she likes all north indian food like paratha, roti, kulcha and paneer . And let me be frank i found it difficult to cook parathas. They are very time taking and tedious messy things.

So here I am with a very easy paratha  recipe but yet yummy and  delicious. The best part about this recipe is there is NO HASSLE OF STUFFING.. continue to read for detailed instructions. This recipe is inspired by Tarla Dalal’s recipe of carrot green peas paratha.

Eat, Carrots, Peas, Healthy, Of Course

For The Green Pea and Carrot Stuffing
2 cups boiled and coarsely crushed green peas
1 cup grated carrot
1 tsp oil
2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp chaat masala
salt to taste
1 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Other Ingredients
200 gms whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
salt to taste
whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling

To prepare stuffing

  1. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan, add the cumin seeds and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  2. Add the carrot, green peas, green chillies, chaat masala and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the lemon juice and mix well.

Method to make dough

In a wide-mouthed utensil, measure out a cup of atta (whole wheat flour).

Knead into it the carrot peas stuffing. Be careful add very little water while mixing wheat flour and stuffing.

When this mixture looks even, knead in water a little at a time, till the dough becomes pliable enough to pluck out balls with ease and not so soft that it sticks to your fingers.

Let the dough stand covered for 30 mins.

Rolling and cooking:

Make balls of the dough the size of golf balls.

Press a ball flat between your palms, give it a quick dip in dry atta and roll it into a disk 6 inches in diameter.

Fry the parathas on a medium flame on both sides till  golden brown with ghee . Ghee adds the extra flavour and makes the paratha superyummy.

Be careful you don’t add more water or more wheat flour beacuse if you add more wheat flour it does not taste like stuffed paratha any more.

Serve hot with accompaniments like raita, pickle and chutney.

I hope you all enjoy the easy version of stuffed parathas. And let me tell you you could follow the same method for aloo parathas with aloo stuffing. See you all tomorrow ..

Music a solace

Hey friends,
Hope you are all doing fine, as I am doing great. And you know what  I believe happiness is contagious.

So here we go with one of my favorite pastime. I love music I am sure most of you love music too. I like  classical, folk and western any type but quality music.
The other day I was just going through my accounts on social media, when I listened to a cover version (new performance of a commercially released song by someone other than the original artist )by my teenager cousin on instagram and my cousin was good, damn good. So I thought let me compare the original album with my cousin, you see I was a little biased towards my cousin. I started browsing in YouTube.

And gals it was like I was thrown back to my college days. I really miss those days when I kinda always tuned to MTv and channel V. But I don’t know what happened to me after marriage I stopped watching those channels may be  because of the new responsibilities. And after a quick 2 min no.. 2 sec search in you tube I heard the song of  ELLE GOULDING, a British singer – “on my mind”.

You should listen to her voice it is so sweet and at the same time  a “Lil‘”husky just what is required for this gen’s pop singer. And she sang so nicely I was just lost and surfed through YouTube for all her songs. To be frank I did not like all of her songs but some of them are just masterpieces. Here is a list of her songs which are my all-time favourites.

1. Still falling for you
2. Love me like you do
3. On my mind

I want you all to listen to the three songs in your idle time and tell me what is your pick. But for starters my pick is “Still falling for you” the singers contribution to “Bridget Jone’s Baby”movie the third sequel which released in India on September 16th.

Here is the you tube video of that song

And the lyrics are something like this

“Still Falling For You”

Fire and ice
This love is like fire and ice
This love is like rain and blue skies
This love is like sun on the rise
This love got me rolling the dice
Don’t let me lose
Still falling for you
Still falling for you…….

For full lyrics of the song please click here..

I can assure you once you listen or watch the song you all will become fans of Elle Goulding like I did. May be some of you might like the the song “love me like you do” her contribution to “fifty shades of grey” 2015 movie.
So gals my point here is there will be ups and lows in one’s life. And there will be those other moments when every thing is going fine in your life but you are just a little depressed and lonely and may be just missing your work life.
But you just need to come out of those moments by may be listening to your favorite song, watching a good movie, go for an outing or a short weekend vacation or at least a small shopping spree on the weekend at the nearest shopping mall.
I am not saying you should not have these lonely moments but try to enjoy life with small small things in life….
Hope you all join the fan club of Elle Goulding … Soon as I am waiting for you all there.
Bye for now.

Sun tan and remedies

Hello friends glad to be back ….This time it is about beauty.

But frankly speaking some of us don’t have time and some of us are just lazy like me so I am always searching for quick fixes. I like quick fixes but they should be completely natural I mean all my beauty hacks are by using natural ingredients.
I know it is natural that we tend to go for over the counter cosmetics (I did too), but if you just look  hard your whole kitchen is a beauty kit. Today I am gonna share just orange-1594775_1920such a home remedy to get rid of sun tan effectively.

Sun tan is nothing but pigmentation of skin due to exposure to sunlight. Exposure to sun for long time may also cause skin diseases so try to avoid sun for longer time.Well you could use stoles or dupattas  to cover your face to avoid direct sunlight. On the other hand you could also use umbrellas or wide brim hats.

 Sun tan removal remedy
There are lot of natural remedies to get rid of sun tan but this is my favorite  tomato and lemon is all we need, I like simple 2 ingredient hacks the lesser the better.
1. Just cut the tomato to two halves
2. Take a tablespoon of lemon juice in a bowl .
3. Just dip the tomato in lemon juice
4. Start applying the tomato in circular motion on your face or whatever affected area.  While you are applying ensure you are Squeezing the tomato slightly so that the tomato pulp is also coming in contact with your skin.
5. Do this for 10-12 minutes
6..Wash with normal water
Or you could just use tomato puree and lime juice as face pack but I find it messy.
You might have a small tingling sensation but it is absolutely normal do not worry.
Gals this is like a miraculous remedy for sun tan you can do  this weekly once may be on your off day – Sunday or Saturday.

You could also use the same technique with thick cucumber slices. The cooling properties of cucumber along with antioxidants and silica help rejuvenate the skin. The combination of cucumber and lime juice effectively removes the sun tan too.

Hope you try this and share with me how it has worked for you?? Waiting for your responses ..please feel free to comment

Bye for now. Will come back with a great idea soon….
